According to White House official Jake Sullivan, Marwan Issa, a senior Hamas leader has died in an Israeli air strike.
According to the , Marwan Issa was deputy military leader of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas's military wing), and therefore the most senior Hamas leader to die since 7 October.
It has been reported that Issa was killed last week in a strike on a tunnel complex under the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The death has not been confirmed by Israel or Hamas.
