SIA chair sends Christmas message

Heather Baily, chair and chief executive of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has sent a message of thanks ahead of the Christmas period.

The chair has thanked security operatives, industry leaders, and membership associations for their unwavering dedication to keeping people safe and highlighted that this time of year is especially demanding.

This year, the SIA celebrated 20 years of regulation and was also named the regulator for Martyn’s Law in the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill.

Baily said: "We want to express our gratitude to the membership associations for their continued partnership over the past year. Your insights and willingness to collaborate with us and each other are vital in driving and delivering positive change. Through stakeholder forums and your conferences, we have appreciated the meaningful, honest dialogue and commitments to action. Together, we can continue to strengthen public safety and improve standards in the private security industry."

She continued: "As we enter the festive period, we know that many of you will be working hard in anti-social and long hours to keep people safe as they enjoy the Christmas break. We also encourage you and your employers to look after and prioritise your own well-being. Take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones and friends.

"Thank you once again for your hard work, professionalism, and commitment to keeping the public safe. The work you do is not always easy, not always recognised but it is vital and at times life-saving. We are proud to move forward with you into a new year of opportunities and challenges.

"On behalf of everyone who works at the SIA, we wish you a safe and peaceful festive season and a successful 2025."
