A 16-year-old boy from Nottingham has been charged with a terrorism offence.
The boy was arrested by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands (CTPEM), on Friday 11 September/
He has since been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation to commit terrorist acts, contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Steve Shaw from CTPEM said: “I understand that this arrest and charge may cause concern, but please be reassured we will continue to work with Nottinghamshire Police and partners to act on any information that indicates a potential threat.
